Uterus Definition & Disorders:

Uterus is an organ of female reproductive system. It is also referred as womb. Its shape is like a pear. It is consisting of three layers:
  1. Endometrium.uterus
  2. Myometrium.
  3. Perimetrium.
It plays a significant role in pregnancy. Its role in the development and nourishment of embryo and fetus is very major. It is directly connected to the fallopian tubes, cervix and also with vagina. Its size is quite flexible. Like before pregnancy its size is almost like a normal human’s closed fist. But during pregnancy its size extends up to the size of new born baby. During delivery the myometrium layer pushes baby out of the uterus. It is also responsible for menstruation. Its size becomes small after the menopause.

Some Problems that Women faces with their uterus are:

  1. Endometriosis (In this disorders tissues grows outside of the uterus. It’s a very painful disorder).
  2. Adenomyosis (In this disorder endometrium breaks the wall of myometrium. It causes heavy menstrual bleeding).
  3. Uterine prolapse (When the muscles of uterus become weak then it causes uterine prolapse).
  4. Uterine fibroids (These are muscle tumors. It causes heavy periods and increased urination).
  5. Uterine Polyps (Growth of large number of cells on endometrium leads to uterine polyps. Polyps are mostly non-cancerous but some leads to even cancer. But there are very less chances of that).
  6. Asherman’s syndrome (intrauterine adhesions).
  7. Pelvic pain.
  8. Hormonal imbalance.
  9. Heavy bleeding.
If a women don’t pay heeds to the uterus treatment then it can leads to female infertility. It is very necessary that before its treatment your gynecologist should diagnose its cause properly.
